The Must see of the Charente-Maritime Region

The Charente-Maritime is known for its beaches and good climate, and of course the oysters of the basin of Marennes/Oléron. But there is much more to discover! Head out on the bike through the fields toward the fortified town of Brouage or make a bike ride on the island Oléron. Take the boat to Fort Boyard or to the islands Aix and Madame or go bird watching in the surrounding ‘marshes’. For the kids, a trip to the big 'Zoo de la Palmyre' is a must do and do not forget to spend a day in the old city harbour of La Rochelle where you can visit the magnificent aquarium.
