Fort Boyard -Famous for its TV show
The French TV show 'Fort Boyard' has been exported to many countries. The fort is visible from Boyardville and Fouras on the Isle of Oleron.
Whilst you can't actually visit the Fort you can take a short boat trip from La Rochelle.
The Palmyre Zoo
Located 20km from Sequoia Parc campsite, this zoo has more than 1600 animals. A great day out for the family and the kids will love the sea lion show and the parrots.
The 'Hermione' works
Since 1997 the Hermione association, named after the ship built by Lafayette to help the Americans in their fight for independence, are involved in renovating and rebuilding the frigate. You can visit the works to discover the traditional shipbuilding methods.

If you want to know more about Cognac the Remy Martin distillerie is well worth a visit: you'll get the chance to see the cellars and participate in a tasting.
The Cognac arts museum
In the heart of old Cognac, the completely renovated Hotel Perrin de Boussac has been transformed into an arts museum.
Boat excursions from Royan
From Royan, to the south of Sequoia Parc, you can take excursions to The Cordouan lighthouse, discover the Pointe de la Grave, Port Bloc and troglodytes grottos.
